Our practice consist of optometrists, ophthalmologists, and opticians working in a unique professional atmosphere which also offers comprehensive eye care, one hour optical service, and laser vision correction. Our History Baldwin Eye Clinic was started in Bay Minette in 1974 by Dr. Bernard Scott, a graduate of the first class to graduate the UAB/Medical Center School of Optometry, and has been serving patients in the county longer than any other eye clinic. The clinic has expanded with the addition of Dr. Adcock, who has also been practicing in the county since 1979, Dr. Dunagan in 1999, Dr. Hoercher in 2006, Drs. Semple and Douglas in 1992 and now Dr. Fisher this year. Most of the doctors are very active in civic activities in the community and our happy to be a part of its impressive progress.
Meet Our Doctors Dr. AdcockDr. Joe Adcock is a native of Baldwin County and has practiced in Daphne for 27 years (the past 11 has been in a group practice) He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his doctor of Optometry degree from the UAB/Medical Center School of Optometry. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Vision America, a comanagement/referral center staffed by ophthalmologist subspecialists. Dr. Adcock has been heavily involved in lasik comanagement for the past ten years and has attended numerous educational seminars pertaining to this procedure. | Dr. DunaganDr. Kim Dunagan, a native of Bay Minette Alabama and Grove Hill Alabama, graduated from the University of South Alabama and UAB/Medical Center School of Optometry. She currently is a board member of the Alabama Optometric Association, on the Board of Directors of the UABSO Alumni Association and president of the Gulf Optometric Zone.
| Dr. Fisher Dr. Bret Fisher is a board certified ophthalmologist and certified to perform lasik by the American College of Eye Surgeons. He graduated magna cum laude from Duke University and completed his residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He has performed over 5000 lasik procedures over the past ten years. He also specializes in no stitch cataract surgery and glaucoma. | Dr. HoercherDr. Melissa Hoercher is the newest addition to the clinical staff of Baldwin Eye Clinic. She received the "Young Optometrist of the Year" award in 2001, won the "Spirit of Rotary" award, serves on the Board of Directors for the UABSO alumni association and has been on the Alabama Optometric Association's Governmental Relations Board (chair). She also practices at the Poarch Creek Indian Reservation in Atmore, Alabama. | Dr. ScottDr. Bernard Scott received his undergraduate diploma from the Ohio State University and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the UAB/Medical Center School of Optometry. He did his residency at the University of Waterloo in Ontario specializing in family practice optometry. Currently Dr. Scott is in private practice in Daphne and Bay Minette, Alabama and where he has also initiated a Lasik surgical facility. He has presented various continuing educational seminars for the Gulf Optometry Zone and is a past president of that organization. Dr. Scott has served on the Alabama State Board of Optometry and also has been on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Optometric Association. |
